holiday homework
HI! ok.. not here to post anything SUPER NICE.. just gonna inform u guys of the homework for the holidays..
Maths -
there are 3 powerpoint slides for you to download and its all in heymaths. download them and learn them. they are ratio, rate and percentage..
also, there are worksheets for you to do and hand up at the end of hols. there are 10 different worksheets.. you should have 14 sheets of paper for that..
you also gotta print out an assignment sheet which is to do questions from the textbook. and there is a 2 page reflection 'form' for you to fill up.
a test on the 3 topics would be released on heymath on the 18. so remember to check and do it!
Chinese -
i'm not sure about those in chinese. but i know that higher chinese pupils have to do a poster..
English -
no homework
Geog -
there's an online lesson on weather and climate on asknlearn. REMEMER TO STUDY IT!. and also u've gotta pack ur file..
Lit -
there's the storybook draft. thats something u cant rush okk.. REMEMBER TO START NOWW
Science -
ok.. do ur workbook.. the small orange one. the answer sheets have already been given out. if you didn't get it then ask the ans frm someone.. use them to study for ur test after the holidays.
study chapter 9 and 10... especially the equations.. definitions.. yeah. and mr sim also pointed out that when they show u the set-up for distillation. you must remember which side the water is supposed to go in and out. they may give you the wrong set-up...
also remember the reason why the thermometer has to be at the opening thing. reason : because you want the temperature of the vapour..
dont say water vapour because its not always water. so use a more general term and say vapour.. now dont use the reason i stated because it isn't a proper answer.. i'll leave the reasoning to you to state urself..
history -
.. im not sure la.. but fann told me its the lecture notes and worksheet.. OH YEAH. the workbook onee.. the.. semestral assignment one..
yeah. so thats all the homework..
GOOD LUCK DOING THEM =P

and one last final warning. please please state who u are when u tag. at the very least.. use ur initials... otherwise i would have to resort to banning ur ip address from tagging.
also. remember to turn up for the science practical lesson next tuesday from 9 - 10.30am. meet at the lab..
sorry about the music column. i know its been there like forever but the website really isn't working. for me at least. well i tried asking fann but she isn't allowed to come online often.. i'll try to get it up soon..
sorry about that..
also. i think we did quite well for the newspaper collection.. i mean like.. we're still amongst the top 10. best of all. [well personally that is] we beat sy.. LOL. sorry. i know i'm being lame
yeah yeah yeah... and we're already behind a lot of lessons .. and it would be greatly appreciated if u guys could pay attention more in class. hopefully the change of the arrangement of our seats would help..
and.. on tuesday. when shen-nen and hannah were trying to get the class attention. no one was listening and responding.. i'm not pointing out anything or anyone but really.. its irritating to have no one listening to u. i'm sure all of u have experienced that before.. so just listen okay..

its gonna be a real long post so bear with me.. =S
ok. i'm gonna post about the history performance task..
Sec 1 History Performance Task for Unit 4 and 5
The following are given in the slip of paper :
You have discovered a plot to overthrow the __Tang/Gupta_government. You found that the root cause was the people's unhappiness with some aspects of the way the country has been ruled. It also has been fomented as a result of unhappiness by the less fortunate and privileged in the society. (the list of conspirators is unimportant)
As a concerned government official, do a 300-400 word report on the situation and suggest remedial policies that could be put in place to prevent the rebellion from occurring. This task will run into unit 5 on culture.
You might also research on the period selected but do not remember to do a bibliography should you do this.
The following was copied from the whiteboard that Ms Cheong wrote :
1. Factual policies and laws
What were the ____________ set up by the goernment of that period?
[available resources : textbook, web, books]
2. Effects
3 Areas :
-Politically
-Economically
-Socially
3. Effects
There are 2 different types of effects :
- Positive (benefical)
- Negative(detrimental)
- Would it benefit some or all?
- Which sectors would be unhappy?
- What had been the previous policies in the past and compare them to the present?
4. Policies
Policies are caused by reasons :
-Socially
-Politically
-Economically
Eliminate policy/policies that cause unhappiness.Either come up with a new/remedial policy or modify the current policy.
Thats all she wrote.. well. most of them..

Literature -
Questions i must learn by heart so i know how to critique unseen poems.
- What is the poem about? ------ subject matter
- Does the title reveal anything?
- How is the poem organised? ---- Does that lend an effect to the poem?
- What s the poet's intention?
- How does he convey his intention? ----What literary devices does he use?
Literary devices wich poets may use for effect :
- rhythm and rhyme
- repetition
- alliteration [ eg. busy bumble bees buzzed ]
- run-on lines [lines withot punctuation, when read, it doesn't stop]
- metaphors and similes [images ae cause when they are used]
- onomatopoeia [eg. boom, bang]
- hard, guttural consonants
- diction [word choice]
* rhythm and rhyme, repetition and onomatopeia are more commonly used in children's poems.
Maths -
Linear inqualities
Inequalities are satements which have one of the four symbols : > , < , > , <
A linear equation gives you the exact value a variable takes, but a linear inequaities gives you the range of values a variable takes.
To solve a simple linear inequality, we can multiply or divide both sides of an inequality by a positive number. The solution to the resulting inequalities are the same as the solutions to the original inequalities.
If both sides of an inequality are multipied or divided by a negative number, the resulting inequality sign changes direction.
Solve an inequality just like a linear equation.
